A Preview of The New iOS 6 Features

Developers already have access to Apple iOS 6. Consumers won’t be able to see what this new operating system can do until the fall though. When the new system is released, what iOS 6 Features can you expect to see?

Accessibility

If you have vision or hearing problems, you’ll love the new Apple iOS 6. The same is true of those with mobility or learning disabilities as this operating system is loaded with features designed to make iOS devices easier to use. Stay connected with ease with the help of features such as Voice Over and Guided Access. Learning how to use iOS 6 isn’t difficult so you’ll be on your way in no time at all.

Facebook

Facebook, the largest social network in the world, can now be accessed without leaving the app you are in. Share a photo right from the Camera or Photos app and share a high game score with others while in the Game Center. If you need use of both hands, Siri does this for you. All you have to do is ask. Facebook events and Calendar are now integrated and profile information may be found right in contacts.

Now it’s easier than ever to interact with the world’s largest social network. And there’s no need to leave your app to do it. Share a photo to Facebook right from Camera or Photos. Post your location right from Maps.

 IOS 6 Features Facebook

FaceTime

This feature now works on both Wi-Fi and cellular networks. Make and receive calls anywhere you are on your iPhone or iPad. All you need if your phone number to do so.

Mail

The e-mail feature is more streamlined. Reading and writing mail has never been easier. Establish a VIP list and important e-mails won’t ever be missed again. This feature allows you to add photos and videos to your e-mail and refreshing is as simple as swiping down.

Maps

Many consider this their favorite of all of the iOS 6 Features as you see the world a whole new way. Text and graphics are very detailed even when using zoom and panning is incredibly smooth. Turn-by-turn navigation and tilt and rotate features are include in this app along with real-time traffic updates.

Map elements are vector based, so graphics and text are incredibly detailed — even when you zoom all the way in — and panning is smooth. Tilt and rotate to view an area, and Maps keeps the names of streets and places where they belong. Get visual and spoken turn-by-turn navigation and real-time traffic updates. Even soar over cityscapes to see the sights from the air in amazing, high-resolution quality.

Passbook

Make use of Passbook to check in for your flight, purchase a movie ticket or use a coupon. This app stores it all and much more. Staying organized has never been so easy as you don’t have to dig for gift cards, coupons, boarding passes, loyalty cards or many other things.

Your boarding passes, movie tickets, retail coupons, loyalty cards, and more are now all in one place. With Passbook, you can scan your iPhone or iPod touch to check in for a flight, get into a movie, and redeem a coupon. You can also see when your coupons expire, where your concert seats are, and the balance left on that all-important coffee bar card. Wake your iPhone or iPod touch, and passes appear on your Lock screen at the appropriate time and place — like when you reach the airport or walk into the store to redeem your gift card or coupon. And if your gate changes after you’ve checked in for your flight, Passbook will even alert you to make sure you’re not relaxing in the wrong terminal.

No more hunting through your wallet searching for gift cards, coupons, passes, or tickets. Passbook keeps everything organized — and handy.

Phone

This is why you bought the device in the first place. You loved the iPhone4s, but wanted to see where improvements were made. New calling features have been added such as call back reminders. When you don’t want to take calls, make use of Do Not Disturb. You even get to choose which calls should come through.

Safari

Web browsing has never been so easy. Keep track of what you have viewed using iCloud Tabs and pick up on another device with ease. Web pages are saved instead of links. See these pages when not connected to the Internet. Post photos or videos for whatever app you are in. Sharing has never been so easy.

Shared Photo Stream

Choose who you want to share pictures with and when. This app makes it easy to do so. Photos may be used on Apple devices, such as the iPad2 or the web. This doesn’t count against your iCloud storage either and the shared photos may be viewed on cellular networks and Wi-Fi.

Siri

This feature has been updated to include more languages and more countries. The new iPad2 has this feature also. Get more done in less time. Siri can help you find anything you need without hassle. It can open apps, tweet for you or post photos and Facebook updates.
