Do you pine for the days when your music player was made of, well, pine instead of glass and steel?
Air Vinyl For iPhone : does two things: it gives your music a warm, analogue feel, and presents it like you’re putting LPs on a turntable (albums usually) or flicking through mixtapes (playlists), and dropping a cassette into a Braun-inspired deck. The audio filter is subtle, though broadly effective — and you can stream the result over AirPlay.
The aping of real-world decks for LPs and tapes, though, feels a bit clunky — and we’re not just referring to the fake scrape-clunk of the stylus hitting the vinyl either! The ‘idea’ of flicking through crates of vinyl is very appealing for nostalgic audiophiles, but it’s laborious and actually not done prettily, at all. Happily, you can do normal searching. There’s a separate £1.99 iPad version too, and alternative skins for the decks are promised.
