It’s The Evil Dead mixed with castle defence gameplay!

Army of Darkness for iPad : Fan of the Evil Dead films? If so, you’ll get a real kick out of this game. It’s loosely based on the Evil Dead universe, and sees Ash Williams battle hordes of the undead with a variety of weapons.

This is a castle defence game with a side-on view. That means the majority of the gameplay sees you dash forward as far as possible before retreating tug-of-war style while firing at the undead. If they manage to reach the entrance of the castle, then it’s game over.

Ash can call upon a selection of characters to help him battle the hordes. These include swordsmen, archers, and knights on horseback. The graphics are rendered beautifully, with 2D backgrounds and 3D characters that have an attractive, cartoon appearance. You’ll tire of seeing the same castle environment, however, and the music gets repetitive too. If there’s one boon in the presentation its the 100 audio clips taken from the movies — they add a real sense of authenticity to the game.
