Best Android Tablet Productivity Apps

Do you own an Android-based tablet and want to know what kinds of productivity apps there might be?  As it turns out, there are a few nice ones that you can use for business, school, or just getting things done more efficiently.  Here are some of those productivity apps for your Android tablet.

Best Android Tablet Productivity Apps

Android Productivity Tablet Apps

The Android Market store is not the easiest nor friendliest when it comes to looking for specific types of apps just for your tablet.  But I wanted to find some that were in the productivity category so you could use them to get more stuff done right on your Android.

Office App For Android

Did you know that you could get some really nice office apps for your Android Tablet?  You sure can.  And one of them is called Quickoffice Pro HD.  Quickoffice HD has been around for awhile since the release of the iPad and thus it’s an excellent app for your productivity needs.  The app costs $14.99 but it’s well worth it.  Quickoffice lets you edit, view and create MS Office docs with ease.  You can grab your docs via Dropbox, SugarSync, Huddle, or from your Google Docs (preferred).  This is like having the best of MS Office right on your tablet and best of all it comes with a very nice PDF viewer.  Users generally like the app, although there are a few keyboard bugs to work out but otherwise if you use a Xoom or Tab this is a great productivity booster and beats lugging around the laptop.

Remote Desktop App For Android

Wyse for Android Tablets

There might be times when you want to connect to your desktop or laptop at home or work and use the programs for far better productivity.  One way to do this is with a good remote desktop app and if you use the Xoom with a nearly 10-inch screen then it can actually be a pretty darn good experience.

Remote desktop apps work by allowing you to easily connect to your computer and view your desktop as if you were literally sitting there.  For the Android tablets, there is a great way to do that and it’s called Wyse PocketCloud Pro.  Wyse has been in this business for a few decades so they definitely have experience and you can trust that the $14.99 you will spend is worth it.

With this app, you can access your PC or Mac and it actually allows you to use three different methods of access:  Remote Desktop Protocol, VNC, or a really cool new one called “Auto Discovery” via your Google Account.  I have to say that this is pretty darn cool using the Auto Discovery method because it really simplifies the entire process.  Hats off to Google and Wyse for this.

Once you connect,  you can use your desktop with your keyboard and enjoy secure, fast, and reliable connections thanks to the built-in bandwidth algorithms.

Mind Maps For Android

Ever used a Mind Map before?  Now if you haven’t yet experienced one then you really need to check out this amazing tablet productivity app for your Android tablet called Thinking Space.  It’s an app that costs $4.99 for the pro version and the reason it’s a great productivity tool is that it will help you stay organized for just about anything you choose to do.

Mind Maps are great for planning content, task lists, notes, website layouts, business meetings and planning, or for school projects.  At first they seem a little strange but all you have to do is use one a few times and you will be hooked.  I use them for nearly everything and they can also be exported to PDF, contain file links, have smart tags, and you can choose from multiple ways to organize them.

RSS Reader For Android

Newsr for Android

A good RSS reader is essential for productivity.  They help you organize all your favorite news, website, and alert feeds.  This means that within one single app or interface you can have everything that is important to you delivered on a constant basis. So instead of having to go to all your websites, blogs, or news sites to read the latest information, it’s all in one single place – and that’s why this is a great productivity app for your Android tablet.

The app is called Newsr and it looks fantastic, costs only $2.99, and has some darn good ratings/feedback.  Newsr connects to your Google Reader account so you will need one of those and it’s free.  It stays in sync so you don’t have continually grab the feeds, and it also allows you to mark articles as read or unread and share them via Facebook, Twitter, or Gmail.

Check it out and if you combine it with a mind map, remote desktop app, and your office app then you have a full productivity suite for your Android tablet.
