Best iPad 2 Apps For Video Mirroring

So you got your iPad 2 and you then you wanted to experience the new video mirroring feature because it is definitely one of the killer features of the new iPad.  But which apps would work really well with video mirroring? Here are a few we feel are the best apps for video mirroring.

Best iPad 2 Apps For Video Mirroring

With the iPad 2, you can use video mirroring to show everything that’s right on your screen on a TV.  You will have to use the Apple Digital AV Adapter and of course your iPad 2.  Additonally, you will need a Television or projector that is HDMI compatible.  Once you have that all lined up, you are ready for video mirroring and an amazing experience with some of the following apps.

The first app we want to present is one that is perfect for teachers and anyone interested in astrology.  Solar Walk ($2.99) is an amazing 3D solar system model that enables you to navigate through space and time, observe the planets close up, learn their trajectories, inner structure, and their history.  You can zoom in and out and view the entire solar system in full 3D.  This is a perfect app for your iPad 2 video mirroring experience and great for schools or even at home.

Next up is one that you will want to use in the kitchen.  If you have ever watched Gordon Ramsay cook or do any of his reality shows then you now have a chance to learn from him right up and close.  It’s great on the iPad but when you use Gordon Ramsay Cook With Me ($7.99) and your iPad 2 with video mirroring then the whole experience is amazing. Each of the 56 recipes you get has full color video of Gordon cooking the recipe so you can follow right along. Additionally you get 10 video tips from Gordon.

Sketchbook Pro ($7.99) is our next app that you might want to use with your iPad 2 and video mirroring.  When you combine the iPad, a stylus, and mirroring then it’s like having a huge canvas to work on and there really isn’t anything better than Sketchbook Pro.  It definitely sets the standard for all sketching apps and if you are one that likes to show off your work or techniques this is the perfect way to do that.  A great tool for school teachers as well!

Like maps?  Here is the perfect use of the iPad 2 and video mirroring.  Imagine having access to over 70,000 USGS and Canadian topographic maps that you can show and explore on your large screen TV.  Topo Maps for iPad ($7.99) is the perfect app for doing just this and you get a ton of features that look great on the iPad but nothing compared to how they look when mirrored up on a large screen.

Another super cool use of the iPad 2 video mirroring is Google Earth (Free).  This free iPad app is perfect for showing and exploring up on your large screen TV. It allows you to navigate the whole world with your finger (literally) and it shows various views including panaramio allowing you to browse tons of geo-located photos.

The last app you might want to use with your iPad 2 and video mirroring is the 360 Web Browser ($0.99).  This 4-star rated app is one of the best browsers you can get on the iPad and it’s even better when you are surfing the web and using mirroring to show it up on your TV. Perhaps you want to show off a website or use it navigate using google maps.  It’s fully featured and packed with great browser add-ons that rival Safari.

Great app highlights. It did get me thinking how to use some of my existing apps creatively for this purpose. I am left a little puzzled by the 360 browser in the list as apposed to Safari. What makes that one better for mirroring?

    1. Shane says:

Mostly I chose 360 because it has a download manager and it can do tabs so well….so if you were doing a presentation and needed a browser, I felt like this would be the closest to a desktop browser with it’s plugins and functionality. At least that was my rationale

  2. Robert L. says:

Cool, thanks for the key points

  3. Henry says:

Does netflix for the abc player work? With the hdmi adapter it’s kinda iffy.
