2. Mount And Install

Once downloaded double click on the Xcode dmg to mount and install the application. I won’t go into detail as this is a pretty standard application install.

3. Mount and Install (again)

Double click the MacPorts dmg to mount and install the application. Again this this is a pretty standard install and isn’t really worth going into detail on.

4. Open a terminal

If you have no idea what I am talking about then go to your Applications >> Utilities and double click on the terminal application icon ( see below for what it looks like). And if your lazy like me just press command + space and just type in the word terminal and then enter ( I <3 spotlight). Inside of the terminal type in “sudo port install libusb” , then press return.

After libusb is installed type in: “sudo port install cmake”, then return. Next after cmake is installed type in: “sudo port install pkgconfig” , then return and after that’s installed just leave the terminal as is.

5. Double click the usbmuxd tar.bz2 archive to extract it. Now go back to the terminal and type in:

“cd ~/Desktop/jailbreak/usbmuxd-1.0.6” and press return

Then, the commands each followed by pressing the return button to execute the command:

“mkdir build”,

“cd build”,

“cmake ..”

“make”

“sudo make install”

6a. Make sure your jailbroken device has OpenSSH installed, if not go to cydia and install it.

6b. Connect your device to your computer via the 30pin to usb connector and in the terminal window type out. “cd ~/Desktop/Pwnage/usbmuxd-1.0.6/python-client/” (press enter, basically assume after each command press enter unless otherwise stated). Then “chmod +x tcrelay.py”, next “./tcrelay.py -t 22:2222”. Now just leave the terminal allow, Do not close the window or nothing will work from past this point.

7. Double click the Redsn0w archive to extract then launch redsn0w from the extract folder. This get’s pretty familiar to those who did the last jailbreak. Click browse and select the iOS 4.2.1 ipsw file and click Open.

Click Next,

It will proceed to inject the jailbreaking code into the ipsw.

Select “Jailbreak Monte (untether)”, You’ll be asked to select the iOS 4.2b3 ipsw you downloaded from your account then click Open, Then click Next. Your phone should already be connected but now turn it off now and press next once it’s off. Now follow the instructions to get your device into DFU mode.

The iPhone Dev Team’s Plan B has been launched! Due to comex missing his deadline to release a 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak solution to recent iOS devices (iPhone4,iPod Touch 4, and iPad). Unfortunately it’s an open Beta that only legit iPhone developers can take advantage of. Not to mention you need a OSX computer. Below is a tutorial on how to take part in this beta test.

Untethered iPad iOS 4.2 Jailbreak Tutorial
1. Download the tools
I recommend downloading or moving all the files once downloaded into a separate folder on the Desktop. The tutorial is written with the idea that your files are saved in a folder called jailbreak on the desktop.
