iPad Apps That Work With Evernote

If you are an Evernote user (and there are a lot of you out there) then you are probably using it on a daily basis to keep your busy life more organized.  I hear from people each day that say how important Evernote is to them. The makers of Evernote have created a great tool, but there are also a few apps that work with it to give you more functionality. Here are a few of those iPad apps.

Evernote Explained

In case you don’t know, Evernote is an application that is available on the iPad, iPhone, Mac, or PC. It is free for the basic amount of storage and the offer a premium service for a small monthly fee.  With Evernote, you can capture notes, ideas, websites, photos, video and sound from nearly anywhere and store it.  You can then access all your “things” and search by tags or even printed text.

That’s a very brief overview of this amazing application.  To learn more about it and watch a video introduction you can go to the Evernote website.

iPad Apps That Work With Evernote

Man, you are costing me money! :-)

  2. Shane says:

Lol. Not intended I promise. But you know that you inspired that post Robert!! Hope you found it valuable!

  3. Jennifer says:

Do you know if Nozbe allows you to use Evernote for multi-collaboration? For instance, can anyone who is “shared” edit files in Evernote through the program?

  4. Shane says:

According to Nozbe’s docs, it is supposed to work…some users however and reported that others cannot see the files – which could be a bug or a fix is coming.

  5. Darryl Jones says:

    Oh Shane!
Now I’m even more confused on Task Management apps. I am an Evernote user…I really like it, but I forget about it often. It is great because it has great apps that cross all platforms: PC app, browser app, android app and iPad app.

Would Nozbe or any of these other items above be better options for Task Management than Google Tasks that I currently use or the other Task Managment apps that you reviewed in a previous article?

  6. Shane says:

OK. I can see your being confused because it IS confusing. Let me try to clear it up.

There are MANY task services and there are many task apps. The services are things such as Google, ToodleDo, and Evernote. These are services.

But they also have apps which plug into these services…so…you will see an Evernote app, Google apps, and Apps that support Toodledo.

The thing to do is pick ONE and stick with it for your Tasks (todo’s). Then, find an app which supports it.

I use ToodleDo (http://www.toodledo.com) and then I find apps which sycn with Toodledo.

This way, all your tasks are in ONE place and then you don’t need to worry about the Evernotes, or others.

Does that make it more confusing?

  7. Darryl Jones says:

Okay, I get the “sevices” part. Currently I’m using the “Google” service for my email, calendars, and task management, but the task management is very, very basic…but doable.

I also use Evernote for web clipping and I like it because it has it’s own apps for PC, Android and iPad. Makes it all pretty simple. However, I did not know anything about the other iPad apps that you wrote about above that also integrate with Evernote. This is what got me to thinking that maybe I’d find more of what I’m looking for in something other than the service Google and the apps associated with it for my task management. I love Google Mail and Calendars and will not move that service.

So, I guess the question is, are the apps associated with Evernote, such as Nozbe and the others that you reviewed above, worth making the switch for my Task Managment…either way, I’m going to continue to use Google and Evernote for some things…just which one would be better for my Task Management platform?

And then there is Toodledo…I had never explored it before, but am intrigued, if for no other reason than you use it. I’ve gleaned an awful lot from your reviews and find that I have very similar tastes in technology as you…hence the 2672 posts I’ve sent you today alone!!!

    • Shane says:

Ha! I thought it was 2673? LOL.

I think it all depends on deciding on which one to stick with. I find that if I try to use too many, then I never stick with it. I’ve settled on Toodledo because so many apps use it….I like Evernote but it almost nearly has “too much” in it for me.

        Hi Shane and Daryl,
I really love Evernote, it it serves as a great backup for my brain, but for task management I am using a paid version of Remember the Milk. It has a nice i-Thingy app, web version, but for Shane’s purposes (mine also!), it also has very nice plugins for Gmail and Google Calendar.

In Gmail you can have a side bar with your tasks showing, and in Google Calendar you subscribe to a feed from RTM which adds a task list to each day in your calendar.

In my opinion it works brilliantly. I haven’t found a single app to do it all but RTM and Evernote are invaluable to me.

        Cheers.

        • Shane says:

          Hi There Matt –

I really need to look at RTM further…I think it may actually be cool to explore using these two together as you pointed out using the feed method.

          • Matt McLeod says:

Hi Shane, to be a bit more specific, the ones I use are:

            “RTM Gadget for Gmail Labs”
            http://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/gmail/

“RTM for Google Calendar (Daily Gadget)”
            http://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/googlecalendar/

I said I was using RTM Pro but that probably isn’t necessary for iPad/iPhone (it was for me up until last week while I was using a Blackberry but I finally tossed it for an iPhone).

The i-Thing app is great for adding tasks very quickly while you are on the go, but for actual task management while I am working I use the web version via a browser (either on PC or iPad).

            IMHO worth a look.

            Cheers!

            • Shane says:

Ahhh ok that makes sense…I like the look of these…will they all work together or do you access them separately?

              • Matt McLeod says:

                Hi Shane,
I always have Gmail, Google Calendar and RTM open in Chrome browser tabs, and the services/gadgets for Gmail and Calendar are always sync’ed with the cloud version (and my iPhone/iPad), but you can use all/any of them at any time (if I understand your question…?) and it keeps the cloud version up to date. I like to have my task list available all over the place, and this is so easy to implement.

I just checked RTM for iPhone info and the Pro account gets me instantaneous syncing (free version is limited to one sync every 24 hours). Frankly that alone is work $25 a year to me for the Pro account.

Sorry to get off topic on your Evernote post….!

                • Shane says:

Oh no…I love it…that’s what makes comments so valuable is when they drift into new topics! I really need to check these out!

  8. Darryl Jones says:

    LOL…now it IS 2673!!!

You are exactly right…I do not want to use more than one…I just need to find the RIGHT one…tougher task to do than to say.

If Evernote is too robust for you, then I’m thinking I need to stay away from it myself – other than the fact that I like it as a webclipper.

AND…using Toodledo appears to be a cheaper solution over all, considering the cost of the apps and the services.

  9. Darryl Jones says:

Hey Shane, what is your preferred iPad/iPhone Toodledo app?

  10. Matt McLeod says:

    Hi Shane,
I came back to this article to see if you have found a browser that works with Evernote…..on Chrome or Firefox I can use the add-ons to clip content or pages right into my Evernote account….but I’m not aware of an iOS browser that has similar functionality….are you?

    Cheers

    • Shane says:

      Hi there Matt,
Sorry I haven’t updated that article but I have been watching for this and today I reviewed more of the latest browsers and not ONE mention of Evernote…I then went over to the side of Evernote where they list all compatible apps and there isn’t an iOS browser there either….so I fear that there are not any “yet”..which really surprises me actually since Evernote is one of the most popular apps used on the iPad/iPhone!

    • Tim says:

Why not just use the Evernote bookmarklet? Works great in my experience.

      • Shane says:

Tim. Very true! Great point. I did this post based on multiple emails I get asking what apps work with evernote…but the booknarklet is great!!!! And you dont need an app
