There are all kinds of iPad speakers. You can get external iPad speakers. You can get portable iPad speakers that are small and light. You can also get iPad speaker docks and plug your iPad right into the speaker unit. But there is another type of speaker that you might want to check out and it’s completely wireless.
iPad Bluetooth Speakers
Since your iPad is Bluetooth enabled it works really well with a set of wireless Bluetooth speakers. This means you can get some fairly good sound out of a pair of speakers without all of the wires and cables attached. You might read that and wonder why you would ever even bother with anything else since the allure of a wire-free environment is so appealing.
However, one thing to keep in mind with wireless speakers is interference. Whenever you have anything wireless, there can be interference and that often means a reduction in sound quality so just be aware that this can be a potential issue. Another potential issue is range. With Bluetooth, there is about a 30 foot range before the connection starts to cut out.
Sony SRS-BTM30
These are a compact and lightweight pair of iPad Bluetooth Speakers that are fairly small but do not sound too bad. I tested these in-store and even with background noise they were pretty impressive. They would fit well on a desk or even on a nice deep shelf. They are priced at around $63 so not too bad for a set wireless speakers.
Sony has a fairly good reputation for their equipment and so far these particular speakers have received an average of 4 out of 5 stars from users. Most of the complaints had to do with range and the rather “deep bass” these speakers produce.

Creative D200 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
Here is a mid-range iPad Bluetooth Speaker that works the best for small areas or when you aren’t looking for hi-fidelity sound. There are some really great features offered with this speaker unit and it delivers rich, good sound but it is not on par with the likes of the Philips. The Creative delivers stereo sound via high-performance digital amplifiers and drivers that are housed within a very sturdy single-shell chassis.
It has a very clean, slick design as well which makes it perfect for small spaces or where you don’t want a lot of clutter. It is priced at around $99. The range is around 30 feet which is standard for a Bluetooth speaker and the buttons are all placed for very easy convenience. The only real complaints so far are with interference. Some users complain that there is interference with the Microwave oven. Interference does happen from time to time with any of these speakers but the Creative just may be more sensitive to it.
