The Pre-Installed Apps | iPad Getting Started

The iPad has a total of seventeen applications that are pre-installed on the operating system, so when you first turn on your iPad these apps will be waiting to greet you and each will form part of your regular use. For the sake of this feature we would like to briefly introduce you to each application and provide you with a quick reference guide for each, before examining their functionality and use further in this publication.

The Calendar

The Notes

You will never know when inspiration will take you or when you are going to need to jot down some essential info, but we do know when that happens you aren’t likely to have a pen in your hand! The Maps

Never clot lost again! This amazing app offers four views on the entire world, classic, satellite, hybrid, or terrain view of locations. The iTunes

Tap this app to access iTunes Store in it’s entirety, enabling you to search for music, podcasts, audiobooks, TV shows, music videos, and movies. The App Store

What would the iPad be without the huge array of amazing applications that can transform your iPad into a games console or a navigation tool to name but a few. The Game Center

The FaceTime

With this application and a Wi-Fi connection you can make video calls to other FaceTime users on their iPad, iPhone, iPod or Mac desktop hardware. The Camera

Using the iPad’s cameras, rear and front facing, you can take photos and also record videos. Your pits and clips can be then viewed directly on your iPad, emailed, or upload them directly to video sharing sites such as YouTube. You can even edit and improve the quality of your images and movies all from within the app.

The Photo Booth

Once again using the front or back camera you can take a picture of yourself or another and then using this app, add something a little special to the end results. There are a large variety twists you can add to your photos to give them a little something extra which can be directly saved to the Album in the Photo App.

The Settings

The app is the centre of all of your iPad use, as it is here that you can completely adjust and tweak your hardware’s performance. From setting up your mail accounts, setting screen brightness, changing your wallpaper, connecting to a Wi-Fi network or changing your interest preferences, it all starts here.

The Safari

Explore the worldwide web with this application using 3G or Wi-Fi. Once connected the mobile Safari web browser allows you to view the internet, acting in the same way as the home version. The Mail

Use this app to send and receive your mail, no matter your mail provider, by adding your existing POPS and IMAP mail settings or by simply selecting a free service from one of the many providers linked directly to the app or do both. The Photos

All saved photos and videos are shared directly to this application, where in you can set there into albums, email them or delete them with ease. You can also view your images via the built in slider-show and also send them directly to your printer via the AirPrint options.

The iPod

Having sync’d with your iTunes library or having downloaded music or videos to your Wad directly via the iTunes, with one tap your iPad becomes your iPod. Here you can access your audio and visual entertainment, create and manage playlists, or use the Genius option to do it for you.
