iPad photo editing is one of the things that makes it such a great tool for professional and amateur photographers. Here we dive into the top 3 best of the best ipad photo editing apps and some of the best photography learning resources…

The photo editing apps, along with the iPad camera connection kit and the portability of the iPad itself all make for the perfect tool to load up photos and then do the following:

  • Edit them in multiple ways
  • Share them via Email, WiFi, Bluetooth
  • Create a slideshow
  • Do a presentation
  • Show them on the bigscreen
  • Hold the first-ever iPad Art Show

Photography Planning

I want to point out two great resources in case you want to learn more about photography in general.  Head over to Darren Rowses’ Digital Photography School and hang out there for awhile. You will learn something new each day. Even if you know a lot about photography this is a great resource.

And if you want to have a great photography resource loaded right on your iPad then you might want to check out Rick Sammon’s 24/7 Photo Buffet iPad app.  This is like having your own personal photography instructor right there with you.  He takes over 30+ years of professional photography and packs it into an amazing app for $8.99.

Here is a post that I wrote which goes into how you can transfer your photos from your iPhone to your iPad via WiFi or Bluetooth and here are some great iPad Photo Tips and Tricks.

If you are an outdoor photographer then you will most definitely want to check out LightTrac ($5.99).  This is a tool you can use to find when and where the light is perfect to shoot your subjects outdoors at any location.  You can even find locations ahead of time with the sun & moon elevation/angle feature. Include real-time maps and azimuth chart.

  1. Wow, I hadn't heard about any of those tools. I will have to consider them now instead of photogene which is whaI was going to get.

Agree with your recommendation of digital-photography-school.com. It helped me a ton when I first got serious about my hobby. The right flickr forum has some incredibly helpful people too.

  2. Shane says:

Yeah this is a post that I really want others to learn about!

  3. Les F says:

Awesome stuff Shane. I was actually thinking about the usability of photo editing apps. on the iPad just the other day.

I have Photo Buffet on my iPod Touch and it is quite good.

  11. Bluesky1836 says:

This is a great post, thank you. I'm very confused about transferring my photos with their high res. I'm still trying to figure out how to edit them on my ipad and then transfer the full files to my mac so I can upload them to Winkflash/snapfish and print! Any clues? Thanks, Ellen :)

  12. Shane says:

Hello Ellen. Thanks for stopping by and reading. For the photos in full res — let me see what the best way is and i'll post it here in the comments!

  13. Shane says:

Ellen. If you connect your iPad to your computer via the USB cable – it will see it like it sees a camera and you should be able to just drag and drop over the photos. Are you on a Mac or PC?
