Wallpapers for your iPad are a great way to make the device a little more customized. If you aren’t using your own background from imported photos or the default ones from Apple, then read on to see some great websites and iPad apps that provide hours (literally) of wallpaper browsing.
Before we get to the sites, I wanted to show you how to install an iPad Wallpaper. It’s much easier than doing it for your home, I promise.
- Find a wallpaper or background that you want to use from one of the resources below
- Tap and hold your finger on the image. A message box will appear and then you can tap ‘Save Image’
- The image is now saved. Press the ‘Home’ button
- Tap your Photos icon and find the image you just saved.
- Open the image and you will notice a small box with an arrow pointing out of it in the top right hand corner of your iPad screen.
- Tap the icon and select ‘Use as Wallpaper’
That’s it. No mess, no glue. Ok, on to the resources.
This site is chock full of wallpaper images that range from abstract to nature to comical. They offer some very hi-res images that are pretty darn nice and vibrant. You can browse by category or they have a search feature. There are no popups on this site and it includes some very useful FAQ’s.
This is a very interesting sight might I say myself. They offer artwork and wallpapers for the iPhone, iPad and other mobile devices. This is a very clean and unique site with some very nice images. There are no categories but you can select wallpapers for the iPad or for the iPhone or both. To select you have to use an option at the top of the screen that is nearly faded out.
This is a very busy site that is full of options, wallpapers, backgrounds, and a great search feature. You can select from multiple categories and, just like iFullScreen, you have multiple views and options. This site is a bit more loaded down with Ads but it does have a ton of images.
This is a great resource that was pointed out by one of the readers on the blog. The wallpapers are very well organized by category and tags and they have a convenient “download for iPad” link. Their collection of Urban wall papers is truly amazing.
iPad Wallpaper Apps
This app offers over 5,000 wallpapers to browse through. They claim to add more each hour! You can shake the iPad to browse or you can see what’s most popular or just swipe through them. These are installed the same way the web-based ones are.
This application claims to have over 10,000+ backgrounds from 100+ artists. Definitely one to check out and if you want, you can even submit and add your own designs to become a famous wallpaper guru.
So there are 5 resources for iPad wallpapers that should keep you busy for days (or weeks). I like them all but the one that stood out the most was Poolga due to the unique style of images.
