But now, like Buck Rogers, you fight your way through each day in a super level of stress and not knowing what’s going on, winning battles and losing battles, hoping to get enough money together to buy the iPad 2. I think, you need to relax. When it gets really, really stressful at work, refer to this guide that will give you the top office-based iPad games that are available.
Paper Toss HD ($0.99)
Ok, the fan is annoying, but that’s part of the point, isn’t it? One of the simplest and best games available, it’s perfect for office-based gaming for two reasons: 1) it inspires you to try doing the game in real life on a lonely, hard evening working when the boss has gone home 2) with that quizzical look and various, short, sharp actions on your iPad flicking away, it looks to the uninitiated that you’re putting together a very important presentation.
Office Kissing HD ($0.99)
As we spend 23.5 hours at work each day (what, you don’t? You slacker) and more and more time with your colleagues, the inevitable office romance will sprout up. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s very bad. Do you fancy that person in marketing/it support (I put it support in – hey we’ve got to stay together, and dream, haven’t we?) I give you Office Kissing. Basically it’s a game where the aim is to go around the office and finding people to kiss. Imagine they’re your own colleagues. Or not. Actually. In the real world how many would you really like to kiss?
Mad Office HD ($1.99)
Basically, in an imaginary office (it is a game, remember) a shop, let’s call it the Apple store for the purpose of this site, is having a 99.8% off sale. But here’s the kicker drone-like workers – the sale is ending at the end of office hours. What sick person would do this? So you have to try and fight your way through to get an iMac for $50.
I think you would agree that this has real world training techniques. Not obviously teaching you how to get a cheap computer, but how to slip out of work when the pressure’s on. I’ve never managed it on the App or in real life yet though!
Office Yoga ($0.99)
All these games so far have been a bit frantic haven’t they? And like all good compilation albums, we’re taking it down a notch with Office Yoga. Does exactly what it says on the store. An App for the iPad that, using genuine office surroundings, you know, a chair, a desk, poorly chosen ‘smart’ clothes it takes you through techniques on using Yoga to keep you calm.
Good, yes, practical? Perhaps not! Can you imagine seeing someone do this? The latest sales forecasts are in, everyone may get sacked and the company’s going under. “What do you think Kathy?” Oh wait, she’s doing a downward dog…
Office Rush HD ($0.99)
An iPad business game that is trying to simulate the cut and thrust of developing yourself in an office environment on the screen of your iPad. It’s designed, through puzzles, to get you ahead in your business. What ever happened with being nice? I hope it gives you lessons on how to be successful, but that you don’t take this literally. Hmmm – if you do take these sorts of things literally – I think you should give up Call of Duty.
Buzzword Bingo HD (Free)
And lastly, my favourite. It’s a whole new paradigm. This game streamlines all of our resources at a high level and takes us out of the box into a blue sky.
I love funny words in the business. My favourite ever was one person developing a platform spoke, completely seriously about having a theme day. I honestly thought that we were all going to dress up in different themes – not test different parts of the site. Happy days.
This App takes all of the silly talk into a fun, App. Every time someone utters one of those classic, process driven statements, mark them up and see who wins. Perfect.
