The Best iPad Cleaning Cloth [Plus A Giveaway]

Do you have the best iPad cleaning cloth you could buy?  I thought I did.  I had a really nice cloth that was this great blue material which seemed to to a good enough job getting smudges off my iPad. And you know how often this happens: just about every time you pick it up to use it.  Well, if you think you have a great cleaning cloth, take a look at this one.

The Best iPad Cleaning Cloth

iPad Cleaning Cloth

A few weeks ago I got an email that I would normally just delete.  It was from “CTA Products” and they were asking me to try out this really great microfiber cloth that they claimed would “take my screen to a whole new level of clarity”.  Since that was a pretty lofty statement to make, I decided to try the cloth.  Oh and I also asked for a few more just for my readers in case it was the best cloth I’d ever used.

The cloth arrived.

It’s called Cloth Addiction and it’s a microfiber cloth for your iPad screen (or iPhone screen).  I’m sure you have heard of microfiber before but did you know all this?

What Is Microfiber?

Microfiber consists of very fine threads of polyester and polyamide (nylon) that combine to form a single thread. Microfibers are so thin (100 times thinner than a single strand of human hair) that when they are woven together they create a surface area 40 times more than that of a regular fiber – creating an expanded surface area with dramatically enhanced absorbing power due to the capillary action of the fine threads. Microfiber is traditionally defined as a fiber with a denier of less than one. Denier is a measure of thinness of fiber and is the weight in grams of a continuous fiber of 9,000 meters.
This means that it locks in dirt, is super absorbent, streak and scratch-free, and very durable.  So that’s all great but how did it perform?

The Cloth Addiction Test

I’m happy to report that it truly was one of the best iPad cleaning cloths I’d ever used.  I purposely make sure my iPad screen was full of smudges and then when I took it out of the package, I literally did a few quick swipes and all the smudges were gone.  I wiped a little more and it looked brand new.
So to make sure I smudged my iPad screen again and it worked perfect the second time…and the third time…
After 2 weeks, it’s still working the same as when I got it out of the package.  The difference with this iPad cleaning cloth is that it remains very clean.  My other cleaning cloths would get a little dingy and dirty but so far the Cloth Addiction is continuing to impress.

Here is the best part about this iPad cleaning cloth. The price.  They are priced at $8.95 and when you buy one you get a second one free.  And they also offer a full refund if you are not satisfied.

Initially I was a bit skeptical but after spending time with the cloth but now I’m very convinced it is one of the best iPad cleaning cloths I’ve used and I would definitely buy one again.  It takes a lot less effort to get my iPad screen clean than with the other cloths I’ve tried and I love the nice large size plus the way it folds up flat so I can carry it around.

The iPad Cleaning Cloth Giveway

When I agreed to review the Cloth Addiction, I also asked for 2 extra ones so I could give them away to the awesome TCGeeks readers.  So, just leave a comment below and I will pick TWO names randomly on Tuesday.  Good luck as these are worth it.

Aloha Shane. I am always sharing my pitiful cloth at school with my middle school and high school students. This cloth sounds far superior and would truly come in handy. You don’t know how dirty iPhone, iPad, and MacBook screens can get when they are used by students! I cringe sometimes and just hand them the cloth! Mahalo for the chance to win such a useful product.

    Hi Shane,

I use the Monster – Cleaning Cloth & Solution, I have the invisibleSHIELD on my iPad, I use the cleaner occasionally, the cloth every couple of days, the invisibleSHIELD, seems the help with the smears. Before I put the shield on I was cleaning it every day. Not sure if the way I do it the best, but seems to work. I’m always willing to try something new! Sign me up!

    • Shane says:

Hi carol. I never thought of using it with the screen protector but that’s a good test…thanks for the comment

  21. Hi I enjoy your site very much. You portray your information in a clear concise way. My wife and I are both are disabled veterans and have tried many many types of cloths to see our IPhone and IPad clearer without much luck. If these cleaning cloths work well please let us know how we might find them. Thanks

  22. Stacy says:

Looks interesting. The best “cloth” I have for mine is a tiger with a microfiber tummy that I got as a gift. This seems much more practical.

  23. MML says:

I would love to try it! I am unimpressed with the one I bought from Apple.

  24. Jeff Gagne says:

Looks great and will try it

  25. David says:

    i would love these too!

  26. Laurie says:

would like to try this out. even w/ a screen protector, still see smudges.

  27. Gavin says:

I live in Japan and in their version of the dollar store (the hyaku-en shop) you can find these cloths for about 90 cents. Is a $8.95 price tag really the best part of this? With the money I saved I can read The Daily for two months.

  28. Ms. Smart says:

Just back from watching harry Potter and capture one of his spells to celan an ipad.

  29. JayDee says:

    Count me in!

  30. Jimmy says:

I have been using eye glasses cloth. Probably not micro fiber, but does work well to remove the finger prints and cat hair. I don’t know why, but my iPad is a magnet for cat hair too.

  31. Lionel K says:

I need a magic cloth! Sounds awesome. ;)

  32. Sfk says:

I wat one! Hope am not to late :)

  33. John Clark says:

I have been trying to evaluate microfiber cloths…the ones made for cleaning motorcycle helmet shields seem to work quite well.
I think I will try one of these based on your recommendation.
    Thanks

    • Shane says:

Thank you John. You know, I never thought of the ones you mentioned but I know people that ride and I might wanna try one out….these ones are definitely one of the best I have tried

  35. Martin Burch says:

great solution to the #1 “hardware issue” of the iPad.

  36. Jim d says:

    Your site continues to Rock!

  37. Jason says:

Please include me in the contest. Can’t wait to try this – especially if it works on my iMac screen. I’m a recent Mac convert and I’m afraid to clean my screen since my Lab ate the cloth that came with it. I don’t want to scratch it.

  38. David Welden says:

Definitely looks like a good item to have

  39. Jane zulian says:

Since I use my IPad in the kitchen the best cloth ever would be great to have!

  40. Julie says:

I’ve bought several cleaning cloths, looking for the perfect one. Sounds like this might be it.

  41. Dawn says:

I am so excited at the opportunity to try this cleaning cloth. I am an architect and am very picky about my screen, which is always smudged up. It’s frustrating to have a device that is so easily smudged. I tried a Zagg “invisible” screen protector, which worked well in terms of preventing smudges, but I tore it off after 1 day and returned it to the store because it made the screen harder to read. It actually pixellated the background and I found that distracting, especially when reading e-books.

Thanks for your blog. I just bought my iPad this past Thursday and will bookmark this page!

    • Shane says:

  43. Kathy says:

This cloth sounds really great would love to win it………..I never win anything. Now if Apple would only release the new ipad2. (or at least announce it), I am getting one as soon as it is released, I have been holding off for the new one. I could use this cloth on my ipod though. I love you sight and love reading your articles.

    • Shane says:

      Thank you Kathy!

I appreciate it and I’ll be doing the drawing later today – - plus I have another one coming up this week….but I am with you about iPad 2 – I wish we would get some news about the announcement…I am very much so looking forward to it.

  44. George. W says:

    I can haz cloth? pwease?

  45. Turt99 says:

The problem I have with cloths is that I always loose them. I had a cloth similar to what you describe, used it once and I haven’t seen it again.

BTW, I really enjoy your site. You’ve always got good information and I don’t feel like I’m reading an ad.

    • Shane says:

Thank you I appreciate that….I have actually lost one or two myself and the only solution I’ve come up with is to keep mine in my folio….tucked away

  46. Roland Downing says:

Count me in for this giveaway. Recently lost the cloth that came with my Apple iPad case and am using a lens cleaning cloth from Pentax. It’s barely O.K. Thanks, again, for your efforts in producing this site. It’s a ” Daily” for me.

  47. DarLink says:

Please randomly pick me …. I’d love to give this wonder a try. Thanks!

  48. Mary Beth says:

If this cloth can easily remove the prints of my grandsons’ little fingers – I definitely NEED one! (not that I don’t love their little fingerprints – just not on my iPad!)

  49. Shane says:

Congratulations to David O. and Darlink on winning the Cloths. I WILL be doing another really great giveway this week for something you don’t want to miss…thank you everyone for commenting…truly appreciated.

  50. Anna Mills says:

If i am picked, then I can stop asking my son for cleaner advise!!

  51. Melissa Schamel says:

I plan to buy several microfiber cloths for teachers to use with their ipads. I would sure like to sample one of these before making a purchase. Thank you for your consideration.

  52. Matt says:

Never use chemicals on your iPad or any electronic devices, the chemical will strip away the protective coating and will ultimately damage your screen. Instead use a microfiber cleaning cloth like the ones sold at http://www.kbcloth.info and slightly wet it and wipe your iPad screen clean. Make sure that the cloth is only damp and not wet. This is the best way to clean your iPad.
