Twitter For iPad | The Perfect iPad Twitter Client? Yes!

If you use Twitter and you have an iPad then you know that there are a ton of really great Twitter apps.  In fact, you may have tried a few (or more than that).  Well today the official Twitter app is released and we are extremely impressed so far.  Here’s why.

Twitter App For iPad

I have used many twitter apps (reeder, instapaper, tweetdeck, flipboard) but none have been so nice to use as the Twitter app for iPad is.  The interface is immediately easy to use and understand.  All of the basic Twitter functions are there. You can quickly view your mentions, messages, lists (public and private), and best of all the search function is fantastic.

But it’s not just the basic features which make the Twitter for iPad app so nice to use.  It’s the fact that you can view others’ profiles, install a safari bookmarklet, and layers.  Layers are the windows which open up when you, for example, want to view another’s Twitter stream.  Layers also open up when you want to see profiles or perform searches.

Another nice thing about this Twitter for iPad app is your profile section. It allows you to view all your basic profile information but in addition, you can make changes to it right within the app.

Something else that is really nice is the opening of links!  This is one feature you want to check out immediately.  When you click on a link within a tweet, the actual page opens up not in a new window but right below it!  I thought this was very well thought out and make opening external links much nicer than that I’ve seen in other Twitter apps.

You can also add photos, attachments and mail tweets!

One of the only things I did not like in the Twitter for iPad app was that you cannot “mark all as read”.  That is a feature I really like and use but I did not see it here.  Perhaps it will come in a future update.

For the price of Free – this is the Twitter app I’ll be using from here on out (no disrespect to any other Twitter apps).

You can check out the Twitter for iPad app here.

  1. Well, I love this one and I deleted tweet deck. It is especially easy to switch between accounts.
