WordPress for iPad is an essential tool if you are a blogger on the go. The WordPress app has it’s shortcomings though so here are two very useful tips for using WordPress on your iPad…
If you write articles fairly regularly and you use WordPress then you know that the WordPress app is not the best and could use some improvements. So what are the alternatives? Well, as a blogger, I simply use the web browser version of WordPress just as I do when I’m using my desktop/laptop.
Using WordPress this way is great on the iPad but there are two tips you may want to know about for a better blogging experience.
WordPress for iPad Tip #1:
The first tip when using the HTML version of iPad has to do with editing. When you create a post and start writing, you might want to tap in the text editing area to make a correction. However, you might notice that it does not respond. The trick here is to switch over to the “HTML” editor. Now it works perfect. For some reason the “Visual” editor allows you to type but not make any changes to your typing.
WordPress for iPad Tip #2:
This next tip is for those that have never discovered yet that you can schedule when a post will get published. It’s a GREAT feature if you want to type a post and then schedule it for a future date to go live. I discovered this and now I use it all of the time. Here is how to use this great feature:
- Over in the Publish area you will notice that it says Publish on: [date], and right next to that is a little “Edit” link
- When you click the “Edit” link, it will allows you to schedule your publishing for a future date
- Click OK when you are done entering a date
- Important: Make sure you now click “Schedule” or it will not be permanent
So there are two WordPress for iPad tips that will hopefully make your blogging life a little easier! Do you have any others that you have discovered?

Enjoyed your tips. As an avid blogger (five daily), I'm always on the lookout for a tip that ill make things easier or better.
Jeff, thank you very much! Yeah, I have tried the WordPress app and it was just too lacking. I wanted to throw in more tips but I also wanted to keep it associated with using on the iPad! I'll add to the list as I discover more.
Jeff – by the way, I stopped by your blog as well and I have to say it's really great – i'll be stopping by each day.
Shane, thank you for your feedback. I'm discovering that some people don't realize I write five different blogs each day. No matter what blog you access, blogroll makes accessing the others a click away.
Wow 5!!!! I can only handle this one right now and I can't imagine how you keep up with 5. Hats off to you for being able to keep up! Blogroll is definitely a huge help though.
Shane, I'm a man on a mission. To live, before I die.
I'll bet you, and many others, are too.
Most people are clueless. I'm working steadfastly to raise awareness to the obvious – the clock is ticking.
Yeah. And it seems to tick faster each day!!
